Veripos, a leading provider of positioning solutions for the offshore marine oil and gas sectors, approached the BGS Aberdeen team seeking an upgrade for their yard gate to a more efficient automated model.
The client aimed to modernise their operations by automating their large manually operated yard gate. Recognising the potential for significant improvements in operational efficiency and security, they tasked us with implementing a solution capable of managing the gate’s substantial size and frequent usage. This project was not merely about replacing a manual system but ensuring seamless integration with the existing infrastructure without compromising performance.
The project posed several challenges, primarily adapting our automation technology to the existing large-scale manual gate at the client’s facility. The gate’s size and heavy usage required a robust solution. Additionally, installation had to be carried out without disrupting Veripos’s daily operations. Our team had to engineer a solution that was both durable and reliable, ensuring longevity and consistent operation.
Our solution involved designing a system incorporating a heavy-duty three-phase (3ph) drive unit alongside an industrial-grade gate rack, selected for their durability and reliability. This configuration was well-suited to the demanding requirements of the site. We conducted a comprehensive site assessment, followed by meticulous planning and installation processes to avoid disrupting the client’s operations. The new automated gate system successfully replaced the manual process, enhancing site security and operational efficiency, and leaving the client fully satisfied.
